Our Staff

Heriot's has a committed staff team of 126 full-time and 34 part-time teachers.

Learning, teaching and pastoral care at Heriot’s are entrusted to our committed teaching staff. All are fully qualified and registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland. All share an ability to inspire our pupils with a genuine care for their welfare.

Continuing professional development means our teachers remain at the forefront of best practice in education. Our Senior School teachers are well informed in relation to Scottish Qualifications Authority coursework and exam requirements and understand how to prepare pupils for these milestones.

Heriot’s teachers give their time and energy both within and outside the classroom. Staff have an enthusiasm for teaching that makes our young people eager to learn. It is thanks to their diversity of interests and skills that we are able to offer such a huge range of extra-curricular activities.

Around 180 non-teaching staff support the work of learning and teaching at Heriot’s by providing services vital to the running of the school. Their roles span finance, administration, catering and support services. Each and every one of them contributes enthusiastically to the life of the school.
