Archives and family research

Reflecting the school’s long history, Heriot’s has a large collection of documents, books, artifacts and memorabilia dating back to the early 17th century.

George Heriot’s is a core part of Scotland’s history and, as such, Heriot’s archives hold national significance and are held by the National Records of Scotland, The National Museum of Scotland and Historic Environment Scotland. A large amount of material is still held within the school’s library collections. Although we are not able to give open access to the public, we try to assist with all enquiries.
