ON Thursday, representatives from the George Heriot’s Feminist Society attended a drinks reception at Pilton Community Health Project in north-west Edinburgh, to find out more about what this organisation does to address poverty and ill health in the community.
It was an inspiring evening. Canapés were provided by Tom Kitchin and people who work at the centre spoke about the work they have carried out for local people since the 1980s and ways they have managed to keep providing services despite government funding being cut by £200,000+ last year.
George Heriot’s Feminist Society would like to support this organisation and encourage people to donate via their website.
Heriot’s offer a huge range of activities each session and encourages young people to try out a variety of pursuits outside the classroom. A full list of extra-curricular clubs can be found on the Junior and Senior pages
