Christmas Poem

Christmas

Anonymous, Class of 1962.

Amid the thoughts of time gone by

Old customs somehow never die

Advent comes around, each year

Bringing greetings and good cheer

Reminding us of Him who came

At Christmas we recall his name

Parents rushing to and fro,

Twinkling lamps are all aglow,

December cold is in the sky,

Bright shop windows catch the eye

Reminding us of Him who came

At Christmas we recall his name

Large fir trees with fairy lights

Brighten up the winter nights

Santa Claus in every store

Carol singers, songs of yore

Reminding us of Him who came

At Christmas we recall his name

Hymns of praise so full of joy

Angels hail the baby boy

A star of peace is overhead

Three wise men by it were led

Reminding us of Him who came

At Christmas we recall his name

A manger where a baby lays

Children in Nativity Plays

In innocence they tell the story

Of a child in all His Glory

Reminding us of Him who came

At Christmas we recall his name

Shepherds also heard the call

Watched the baby in the stall

Cattle watched though unaware

Of the miracle lying there

Reminding us of Him who came

At Christmas we recall his name

The earth becomes a place of peace

People pray for wars to cease

Families celebrate the season

Some there are, forget the reason

So let us all go forth and sing

To Jesus Christ our Heavenly King
