The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) has recently announced their winner of the their Young Conservationist of the Year Award (YCOTY).
Morganne (S6) won the wildlife conservation charity’s award in February for showing passion, enthusiasm and commitment to the natural world.
Morganne commented: “This year I took part in Zebra, Science Summer school, a wildlife photography workshop and volunteer as a CAT (Conservation Action Team) youth leader.
I really enjoy taking part in the zoo activities. After attending CAT I was inspired by the conservation work done around the world. I am now looking into attending conservation and animal biology courses at different universities around Scotland.
I was surprised to be nominated (for the second time) for Young Conservationist of the Year and even more surprised to be given the award. YCOTY award started in 2019 but I never knew it existed so all of the courses I took part in and all the volunteer work I did was never to receive an award but to learn about our environment and conservation, and to share my knowledge with the younger generations.”
