S4 Winter Skills trip to Glencoe
Pupils got up high in the snow above Glencoe and spent two days learning about the skills involved in walking in Scottish mountains during winter with Hebridean Pursuits. They experienced a wide range of wintry weather as they learned how to cut steps using their boots and ice axes, how to stop themselves when slipping and sliding, how to identify different types of snow and how to dig snowholes for shelter. For some the trip also involved learning some new skills in cooking as the pupils catered for their peers.
It was a great adventure.
Here are some photos of their activities.
