Two Heriot’s pupils competed in the Scottish National and Open Diving Championships last weekend, held at the Royal Commonwealth Pool, Edinburgh. The Championships offer a great opportunity for young divers to compete for National titles within Scotland, with very strong competition from other elite divers from the UK and Europe across various age categories and different events/boards.
Eilidh, S1, dived particularly well in the 1m springboard competition on Friday, despite being one of the younger divers in the Girls 12-13 years event. She qualified for the Final, smashing her Elite PB, and finished in 5th place overall and 1st Scottish diver – to become the Scottish National Champion for 12-13 years Girls on 1m springboard.
Lachlan, S3, was diving up an age group this year, to test himself against divers up to 2 years older. His performances in all 4 events were solid – resulting in him finishing as the 2nd best Scottish diver in his age group. In the Open events, he won a Silver medal in 3m Synchro, came 5th Platform, 7th 1m Springboard and 8th 3m Springboard out of a total of 18 divers. He also performed some great dives achieving 6 new PBs over the weekend.
