Clyde 3 Heads

October 05 saw our S4-6 rowers travel to Glasgow to compete in the Clyde 3 Head’s Head Race. For many of our rowers, it was their first time racing on a river and many also achieved top results.

In division 1, all of our senior rowers competed in their respective categories, with an impressive win from Heather Taylor (S5) in the Women’s Res2 Event. In division 2, both the boys 1st IV (Douglas Richards (S5), Josh Jenkins, Fraser Innes and Archie Weetch – coxed by Olivia Brindle (S6)) and the girls 1st IV (Heather Taylor, Jessica Stuart (S5), Grace Anderson (S6) and Isla Bathgate – coxed by Katherine Gardner (S4)) won their respective Res2 categories.

Many of the other rowers competed in their doubles (Ben Wilson and Sohail Rehman (S5), Will Kesterton and Kyle Sutherland (S4), Amelia Deebank and Joy Koay (S4), Ethan Maclachlan and Theo Keshner (S4)), with wins from Will Kesterton and Kyle Sutherland, Amelia Deebank and Joy Koay and Ethan Maclachlan and Theo Keshner.

In division 3, some of the S4 and S5 rowers competed in their coxed quadruple sculls categories (Sohail Rehman (S5), Aaron Hunt, Theo Keschner and Ethan Maclachlan – coxed by Varun Ravikumar (S4)) and (Amelia Deebank, Joy Koay, Elizabeth Kelly and Katherine Gardner (S4) – coxed by Olivia Brindle (S6)), whilst the senior boys and girls raced in their respective pairs category, with a win from Josh Jenkins and Archie Weetch in their J18 category. Others also raced in their singles, with impressive results from Kyle Sutherland and Ben Wilson – coming within 2 seconds of a win.

Congratulations to all of the rowers who competed and thank you of course to the organisers for such a great event, and our coaches for their continuous hard work.
