On 28 September, GHSRC traveled to Strathclyde Park to compete in the Junior Sculling Head. Despite tricky weather conditions, the rowers dealt with conditions remarkably well and secured places on the podium in several categories.
Although this was the S4’s first competition, both the Boys’ Quad (Katherine Gardener (cox), Joe Reid, Oli Hean, Aaron Hund, Ethan Maclachlan) and Girls’ Quad (Varun Ravikumar (cox), Katherine Gardener, Joy Koay, Elizabeth Kelly, Amelia Deebank) placed first and second place respectively, a massive achievement.
Seniors also did well, with the Girls’ IV (Isla Bathgate (S4), Jessica Stuart and Heather Taylor (S5), and Eleanor Black (S6)) racing the J18 Coxless Quad and gaining second place. Josh Jenkins (S6) also secured second place in the J18 Single after an impressive race.
Congratulations to all rowers who competed over a large number of races, especially in singles and doubles.
A huge thank you to Glasgow Rowing club for organising the Sculling Head and thanks again to Mr Davidson and Miss D’urso, for their dedication, hard work and support.
