I am delighted to confirm the results of this year’s SQA examinations. In what has been a challenging year, pupils have attained an excellent set of awards across the board.
▪ At National 5 level our S4 pupils achieved 98.9 % pass rate (A-C) with 84.7% passes at A grade.
▪ At Higher level our S5 pupils gained 99.2 % passes (A-C) with 86.9% at A grade. In total 116 pupils achieved straight A grades in their Higher exams, a remarkable number and a great achievement.
▪ Finally, and maintaining these high standards, were the S6 cohort, who achieved 99.0% (A-C) at Advanced Higher Level (with 80.2 % at A grade) as well as a 98.6% A-C pass-rate (with 71.1% at A grade) in those Highers that they sat.
So a superb set of grades and a reflection of the hard work, dedication and tenacity of each and every pupil. To maintain a focus on academic attainment in a year that has brought continual change including a temporary lockdown and ever-fluctuating restrictions on activities, friendships and enjoyment, is a superb accomplishment.
In addition to the pupils, the efforts of the teaching staff must also be acknowledged. For many, the last 18 months will have required a significant shift in their teaching approach, the digital skills required and developed, and the additional pastoral challenges placed upon them. Their professionalism, care and effort are borne out in the accomplishment of the pupils.
