The S6 cooking interest class held a successful charity dinner in the Refectory. The class cooked with Ken Hom, chef Paul Bloomfield and chefs from Prestonfield House Hotel to create a Chinese banquet for 90 guests. Don Sloan, of Oxford Cultural Collective, held an ‘in conversation’ with Ken during which guests learned about Ken’s life. The evening was rounded off with a charity raffle and auction. Over £11,000 was raised for Action Against Hunger and the CEO of the charity, Jean-Michel Grand, travelled from London to attend the dinner. He described the evening as a ‘sharing of food, kindness and generosity’.
The S6 pupils worked incredibly hard in the kitchens for two days and impressed the chefs with their hard work, team work and enthusiasm. The great atmosphere and delicious food led to a wonderful evening. The standing ovation for the S6 pupils at the end was very moving.
The pupils were as follows: Adam, Andrew, Caitlin, Douglas, Eilidh, Ethan, Gregor, Jasmine, Kyle, Milly, Rory. Congratulations and thank you to all involved!
