Tremendous results in the S5 Society of Biology Intermediate Olympiad competition.
This competition took place in late June when our Higher Biology and Human Biology students had already taken their final course exams. They certainly made use of the knowledge and understanding they had gained throughout the year as we were delighted to receive the results in July confirming no less than 23 new S6 pupils achieved a medal level award (31% of our entrants) and 3 top scoring pupils achieved Gold medal awards.
Congratulations to Ben W. (top in school), Calum H. and Robert S. who each achieved Gold awards.
A further 7 pupils achieved Silver awards and 13 in total achieved Bronze level awards. 6 pupils were Highly Commended and a further 9 pupils achieved highly enough to receive certificates of Commendation. This means 51% of GHS pupils who took part gained at least a Commendation award in this international post 16, GCSE/A-level based competition. There were entries from 709 schools and a total of 14,961 students took part in 2023.
Very well done to all our entrants and special congratulations to those who gained awards.
