Uniform

Heriot’s pupils represent the school whenever they are in uniform. We want our young people to be polite, behave well, look smart and take pride in a well turned-out appearance. Our blue blazers should be a welcome sight across the city.

Pupils must wear the full, correct school uniform. Some items are compulsory, but others are optional. Certain items must be purchased from our approved supplier and many other items can be purchased second-hand from the Heriot’s Thrift Shop.

When you apply for a place, we’ll be happy to help answer any questions you have in relation to the school uniform.

Heriot’s Thrift Shop

The Thrift Shop is a parent-led enterprise that sells good quality, second-hand uniform items and games kit for most school sports and at very reasonable prices. This includes:

Benefits to parents, the School and the wider community

Parents can sell on uniform that is no longer needed and if they choose to become a registered seller, will receive 75% of the sales price on items priced £7.50 or more. The proceeds of any donated items benefit the school.

The Thrift Shop proudly supports specific school projects through its fund raising, for example major refurbishments & outdoor play equipment. It also contributes to the school’s sustainability commitment by encouraging a circular economy, making regular donations to uniform banks around the city and fostering strong links to the pupil ‘Earth Club’.

How you can help

The Thrift Shop runs through the goodwill of volunteers and is always looking for more people to help out. Parents who feel they could help on at least one Saturday morning per term, please get in touch. It’s also a great way to get to know the Heriot’s community.

Where to find us

Find the Thrift Shop at the Cricket Pavilion in the sports ground at Goldenacre. It is open on Saturdays during term time from 9am to 12noon, as long as games fixtures are being played. If bad weather stops play, the Thrift Shop will not open.

‘Summer Sales’ are held over the summer holidays to help parents prepare for the session ahead.
