Cross Country News

After a successful season of competition in the Edinburgh Schools Cross Country League, the Senior Boys squad, comprising Angus Ivory, Tommy Thin and Tomas Macdonald were gold medallists in the team category, with Harry Henriksen winning overall individual silver having won one Senior Boys race and finishing second in three others. The Junior Boys team of Reuben Bright, Finlay McWilliam, Sandy Renwick and Thomas Milne won silver medals in the Junior Boys team event. Eva Cameron claimed an individual bronze in the S1-3 Girls category, having won the season-ending race at The Mary Erskine School. In the primary races the P6/7 boys team won bronze medals with the team of Alastair McLelland, Dillon McLelland, Martin Cunnane and Tom Newton. In the girls primary races, Clara McDonald narrowly missed out on an overall medal despite winning a tough last race of the league season.

The leagues were followed on Monday 25th March with the annual EPSSA Cross Country races at Calvary Park, Duddingston. These races were well attended with over 200 runners in each age group. Medals were awarded to those in the top 10. Amongst our excellent performances were Dillon McLelland who came 5th with Alastair McLelland 10th in the P6 boys race, Skye Valentine was 3rd in the P6 Girls race and in the P7 girls race Clara McDonald was 4th. These along with our other runners were excellent performances.

With only Scottish Schools Cross Country to come at the end of April this has been an excellent season for all involved.
