Pipe Band News

Following on from his success in the Kingdom Thistle solo piping competition on Saturday, Brodie Watson-Massey was in the prize list again on Sunday at the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships. On this occasion it was Brodie's composing talents that were being recognised with a third prize in a tune writing competition for his piece ‘Alfie's Trombone'. Brodie's tune was performed at the event prize giving by top piper and traditional musician, Lorne MacDougall.

All three Heriot's Pipe Bands were performing at the championships and it was very encouraging to see so many new band members taking part in their first events. The best Heriot's band result of the day was for our N/J band with 4th in the Novice Juvenile A Grade, narrowly missing out on the prize list. A full report on the championships can be found here.

Well done to all.
