Art Fest March 2012

S6 pupils and teachers in the Art & Design Department are delighted to present our programme of events for Art Fest, a series of workshops and lectures, which will take place after school next week from Monday 12th March until Friday 16th March. There will be an opportunity for pupils to create woven sculptures from willow with Emma Billett, 3D artist and member of the department, or to attend a painting workshop with locally renowned painter Damian Callan, who will hold a figure drawing class, exploring ‘The Moving Figure’.

30 lucky people will head out to Jupiter Artland, the contemporary sculpture park in the grounds of Bonnington House, Wilkieson. The park is open over the summer but the owners Nicky and Robert Wilson have kindly offered an exclusive opening for the Heriot’s community. David Williams, exhibiting photographer and Head of Photography at Edinburgh College of Art, will talk about formal/informal portraiture in his work. Adrian Wiszniewski, renowned Glasgow based painter will discuss his work to date and we’ll hear about the early career paths of two former pupils, Kathrine Pelosi (Product Design, ECA) and Jamie Sansbury (Architecture, GSA) as well as the very interesting career path of artist Geri Loup Nolan, who has a history in magazine publishing and visual media.

These events will be open to all of our pupils, particularly our S6, parents, guardians, friends and members of staff. Please refer to the letter which went out to pupils on Monday, complete the form and hand it in to Rona Duffy or email her in the Art & Design Department - rjd@george-heriots.com by Friday 9th March. Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Confirmation of places will be by email. If you do not hear then you will not have secured a place. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further information – Amanda Thomson - ajet@george-heriots.com.
