Commis Chef

Part-Time, Term Time Only

We are looking for an experienced Commis Chef to join our Hospitality and Catering team which provides a full range of catering services for the Heriot's Community including pupils, staff, governors and visitors.

Hours of Work:

Monday; 7.00am - 3.00pm; Tuesday - Friday; 8.00am - 3.00pm (33.5 hours per week)

We welcome applications from interested candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience of working as a Commis Chef in a formal working environment
  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team in a busy kitchen environment
  • Willingness to undertake training and development in line with department/school requirements and in line with Food Safety legislation
  • A polite manner and a calm and professional attitude

Salary Information

Actual Salary - £12,223 per annum (£15,700 FTE/£8.16 per hour)

However, George Heriot's pays the Living Wage as set by the Living Wage Foundation as of 1st April 2018. Therefore any employee receiving a basic pay rate of less than £8.75 per hour will receive a discretionary, non-contractual enhancement to the Living Wage level.
