Teacher of Mathematics

Full Time; Permanent Position
From August 2018

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Mathematics to join our successful Mathematics Department. The position will be available from August 2018.

The Mathematics Department comprises seven full-time teachers including the Head of Department and two part-time teachers. The Department is well resourced and each classroom is equipped with a visualiser, gyromouse and two wireless classpads, to enhance learning and teaching. Pupils follow national courses complemented with practical and investigative work, which includes use of TI graphics calculators and a range of Mathematics software packages. Pupils are encouraged to participate in events such as the UK Individual Mathematical Challenges (Junior, Intermediate, Senior), the UK Team Mathematical Challenges, the Scottish Mathematical Challenge, Enterprising Mathematics in Scotland, World Maths Day and the Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclasses, and have achieved national and international competition success in recent years.

In S5, a large number of pupils take Mathematics at Higher and we offer Advanced Higher Mathematics, Advanced Higher Mechanics and Advanced Higher Statistics in S6. This is a high-achieving Department, which has enjoyed excellent success rates in SQA National Examinations. The successful candidate must be willing to confidently teach across all levels.
In addition to curricular commitments, the successful candidate will be required to participate fully in the extra-curricular life of the School.
