Former Pupils

After Many Years

On 27 April the inaugural After Many Years Reunion took place - a celebration for all FPs who left Heriot's 60 or more years ago.

132 former pupils attended this special reunion, which began with a Drinks Reception in the Staff Room. The guests spilled out into the sunny quadrangle to watch the Heriot’s Pipes and Drums before heading across to the new Refectory for High Tea. Once guests were seated, School Captain Euan Healy, formally welcomed them back to Heriot’s and gave a heart-warming speech about the links between Herioters young and old. After the meal, the FPs enjoyed two short musical performances by current pupils Alexis Tie-Gill (violin) and Jasper Harris (piano).

Guests came from far and wide, including David Mackenzie (1950) who travelled all the way from Australia especially for the occasion. Our most senior FP in attendance was Lex Turner of the Class of 1937 who proved you’re only as old as you feel, at 99 years young!

A wonderful day was had by all who retraced their steps back to Lauriston Place with one FP remarking, “we’re all a bit grey, but Heriot’s is just as grand as it always was!”
