MG 5082

Each pupil creates their own timetable based on their academic needs and their interests and ambitions for the future. Pupils select:

Academic Challenges

There is a variety of Advanced Highers and Highers on offer and new subjects just for S6 such as Higher Photography and AS Film Studies. Pupils can also pursue qualifications in British Sign Language, Microsoft Operating Systems and Autocad.

Interest Classes

There is a wide variety on offer, everything from Brazilian Street Drumming, to Child Psychology and US Politics.

Service

All S6 pupils commit to service opportunities which are built into their timetable. Heriot's has a wide range of contacts in the local community. Our young people volunteer at, amongst others, the Circle Project, the National Trust, the Grassmarket Community Project, St Catherine's Convent of Mercy and a number of nursing homes and local schools including Oaklands and Pilrig Park.

General Studies

On a Monday afternoons all of S6 meets together for our General Studies programme. We have guest lectures from a variety of fields and also use that time to deal with important issues that relate to transition.

S6 Programme

To mark the end of their time at school S6 enjoy a two week activity programme in June. This is part celebration and part transition and culminates in our S6 Ball at the Balmoral.
