Catering Services
Catering is provided at three sites on the Heriot's campus - the School Refectory, the Tuck Shop and the GMC Café.
The Refectory provides lunch for pupils from P3 upwards, although pupils of all years are welcome to eat their own lunches in the Refectory.
The food in the Refectory is varied made using fresh local produce; it adheres to the School's Healthy Eating principles with the emphasis on providing a balanced diet that helps, rather than hinders, the learning process.
Senior School pupils may use the Refectory at break to purchase hot and cold rolls, sandwiches, baguettes, fresh fruit, muffins and other snacks.
At lunchtime, when Junior and Senior pupils use the Refectory, a full menu of hot and cold food is provided with two daily specials, one of which is vegetarian. Homemade soup, fresh fruit salad, and baked potatoes are always available along with a daily choice of pizza and pasta. Pupils may eat in the Refectory or ‘grab and go' from the Deli area.
The Tuck Shop is open to Senior School pupils at break and lunchtime, selling a wide range of soup, sandwiches and healthy snack items.
A recent innovation is the Café in the Grassmarket Campus, which is open to our Sixth Year students from 8.15am to 2.15pm and is situated beside the Sixth Year Common Room. This sells hot drinks and a range of food items throughout the day, featuring daily specials. Students may order their lunchtime sandwich in advance.
Our Catering Manager always welcomes queries about individual dietary requirements, and the emphasis in our catering operation is on well-cooked, fresh food and proper customer service.
