BBC School News Report

Today is BBC School Report Day, where some 25,000 students across the UK are turning their classrooms into newsrooms and working towards a real broadcast deadline.
The pupils of S2 decided to explore the impact Scotland can have on the lives of Fair-trade producers from the position of the Director of the Scottish Fair Trade Forum, from Palestinian Olive Oil Producers and a local Scottish charity. They also report on an inspiring local hero, a doggy day out at Crufts and take part in an attempt to record the largest interactive weather report.

S2 pupils Christie Jack and John Pearson commented on their experience:
"11th March saw S2 pupils take part in the BBC School News report. This contained a series of filming, editing, scripting and careful planning. Over the past few weeks we have been researching Fair Trade in connection with the United Kingdom and Ghana. We have been split into different groups to research different topics, such as, Crufts 2010, a local hero, Fair Trade, and Weather. During the morning of the 11th March, S2 pupils worked very hard to achieve the final product in the time limit given by the BBC. There have been many disruptions, especially with the filming, but we managed to overcome the problems and deliver excellent reports which made the deadline. Our fellow pupils have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to take part in the BBC School’s News Report 2010 and we would like to thank; Steven Pressley, Esme Kennedy, Betsy Reid, Mr Denholm, Mr Buchanan, Helen Chebe, Yvonne Miller, Jamil Hijazin, Mahmoud al Qadi and all of our teachers."
