Debating Society
George Heriot's has a well-established and popular Debating Society which meets on Friday afternoons and is 
open to all pupils from P7-S6. The Society debates the issues of the day, and invites speakers from the staff and political life to argue their views, as well as having lighter meetings including a very strange Christmas Party! The school has a proud track record of success in national and international competitive debating, being the only school in the United Kingdom and Ireland to have won the English-Speaking Union Mace three times. We are currently the Scottish Schools Debating Champions, and pupils from the school have represented Scotland in the World School Debating Championships on many occasions.
